On December 16, the project in cooperation with the Service for Accounting, Reporting and Auditing Supervision and the Hellenic Accounting and Standards Oversight Board organized a virtual seminar on the International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, with IESBA Chairman Stavros Thomadakis and IESBA’s Senior Technical Director Ken Siong as main speakers.

The aim of the event was to address the key issues relating to ethics and independence standards set out in the International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (Including International Independence Standards), which was published by the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants and came into effect in 2019.

In their presentation, Mr Thomadakis and Mr Siong spoke about the structure and conceptual framework of the IESBA Code, its global application, independence requirements, the issues related to non-compliance with laws and regulations (NOCLAR), the IESBA eCode and other relevant matters.

In addition to local representatives of the profession, the virtual seminar attendees included professional accountants and auditors from former STAREP countries such as Armenia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine together with representatives of Ukraine’s Auditing Public Oversight Board.
